Jermie Calhoun – My Story
Jermie is a certified speed and agility, strength and conditioning coach. He is married to his high school sweetheart of 15 years, and they have three children, Maddox, Maybree and Macklynn.
Jermie graduated Van High School in 2008. He played football, basketball and ran track. While there he broke many high school records, was part of the state championship basketball team his freshman year, went to state for the sprint relay in track, awarded Ford player of the year, Under Armor all- American and was recognized as the #1 running back in the nation.
After graduation he attended the University of Oklahoma on a full ride football scholarship. He played three years there learning a lot about football and himself. In 2010 he suffered a very gruesome knee injury that sidelined him for a full year. The rehab of that injury is something he could never explain. It was one of the hardest things he had ever done, but it taught him so much about himself, hard work and dedication. However, during this time, it also put him in a very low point in his life, somewhere he had never been before.
“When you are so used to the “hills” in life those valleys are a little deeper than you remember. I had to get out of a very, very deep valley……struggle is the word, I truly struggled.”
After rehabbing over the next year, he left the University of Oklahoma and found a home at San Angelo State University where he finished his football career. After a few long months of talking with NFL teams, Canadian teams and arena teams, he decided his passion was no longer in playing the game but showing his love and passion for the game to others.
This is where ReBirth was born. “I knew my passion for the game was not gone but I also knew it wasn’t for me to play any longer. Around this time my wife had just given birth to our son Maddox, and at that moment I knew I wanted to instill in him all the lessons I had learned from sports. The values, discipline, hard work, determination and dedication it takes to come out of those valleys in life that we all have been in at some point.”
ReBirth Performance is just that. It is a chance to start over, work towards your goals, join a family to help you reach those goals and all the while learning the true meaning of hard work and dedication.
“This is why I am here; this is why ReBirth is here and this is why I love what I do. Seeing kids and adults show up every day, work hard, see results and learn lessons that they can take into the world…..that is what Rebirth is all about.” #letsbegreat

About
Dustin Wiggins
Director & Head Baseball Coach
Dustin Wiggins – My Story
Dustin is married to his wife of 12 years, and they have 3 children, Maggie, Bowen and Tripp.
Dustin not only coaches our 7U and 8U select teams he also coaches a t-ball rec team, The Gravediggers, teaches batting lessons, all while owning and running his own company, JDR.
Baseball was his first love, and still is today. You will not find another coach with more passion for the game and for his players. Dustin’s love for the game of baseball is what started the ReBirth select team.
“I want these boys to compete, I want them to learn and grow through the game of baseball.”
Dustin was a natural at baseball, it was always something that came easier to him than most, he grew up at the baseball fields, and played league ball until a knee injury and a “throwing arm” injury took him away from the game.
Even as a young boy he always said he wanted to coach.
“Baseball is such a mental game which is why I love it so much. It is a hard game and learning how to forget about your mistakes and keep going is something that is a struggle for most. You will beat yourself up worrying about mistakes, but baseball does not allow you to do that. You must forget about it and keep going.”
To him, baseball is so much more than a game, it is life lessons every time you step on the field.
“I just love the game of baseball; it is the greatest game on earth. You can’t take a knee or dribble out the clock you have to get up to the plate and hit or sit. You have to fight; you have to be a dog.”
We will end this bio with a few of our favorite Coach “Dustin-isms”
– There is nobody better
– I believe in you kid
– Keep fighting, it’s a long game
– Do the little things
We are blessed to have someone like Dustin on our team.
